Q

What do you need to know about 2:1-11 (Turning of water into wine)?

A

A wedding banquet lasted 7 days. Responsibility of host to provide wine, huge shame if they ran out. Jesus and Mary are probably relatives. Mary knew she couldn’t boss Jesus around, her statement was a statement of faith. First sign Jesus performed. This sign was Jesus saying he’s fulfilling the inadequate system of legalism and replacing it with a new covenant ratified by his blood.
