The author references a famous person or event i.e. Shakespeare the Bible etc.

appeals to the emotions of the reader

Hypothetical examples
these are like what if examples. These examples don’t how always have to be real
Example: appeal to authority
Using an authority figure or expert as reference.
This can be somebody that is higher up like a president or it can be an expert like somebody that’s an expert in their field example Calvin Klein
Statistics and facts
Using data or evidence to prove a point
Predict and refute counter on arguments
Compares others views to their own views
Anaphora
it rained…, It rained…, It rained…,
Repeating the beginning of each sentence
Antithesis
His body is active, but his mind is sluggish
writer uses contrasting words to compare something or someone
Balance
dream without fear. Love without limits.
Two parts that are equal in length structure and importance
Climax

The opposite of anaphora, it is at the end of the sentence

Using inductive or deductive reasoning to prove or disprove an argument

Comparing two things to explain something. (Life is like a box of chocolates)

When you talk about one thing, cause, makes something else happen, effect.
Classification
Organize ideas or things into categories that are similar
( there are three types of animals: mammals, Birds and fishes)
Description
to describe someone or something using detail
Definition
To explain with something else in detail
Examples
I can be personal, experience of others, hypothetical, quotations (appeal to Authority), and statistics and facts
Narration
The author may use a story or joke to illustrate a point to entertain or to make a relationship with the reader
Persuasion
To use argument, reasoning, emotions to influence an audience
Process analysis
Gives explanations of procedures, which may be directional or informational
