Newborn
- refers to a process of
collecting a few drops of blood from the newborn onto
an appropriate collection card and performing
biochemical testing for determining if the newborn has

New born screening
- it is a facility equipped
with a newborn screening laboratory that complies
with the standards established by the NIH and
provides all required laboratory tests and
recall/follow-up programs for newborns with heritable
conditions

ng mga results ng mga newborns and then
mag train sila na tinatawag natin na mga
laboratory personnel para sa newborn
screenings, magconduct sila ng mga
trainings regarding sa recall and follow-up

Newborn Screening Specimen Collection Kit
One of the most important process in newborn screening
recall
is a procedure of locating a newborn with a positive
screening result from a positive heritable condition for the
purposes of providing that newborn with appropriate
laboratory testing to confirm the diagnosis and provide
treatment

FOLLOW-UP

lessen the condition.

a system composed of several groups and coordinate with
each other for the purpose to save newborn with heritable
conditions, prevent, and for early detection

notification and education relative to the obligation to
inform parent or legal guardians
● every delivery, it must be informed about the newborn
screening
● newborn screening is reduced to a form

hindi sila capable, assistance will be extended to them by
the government, by the local government units, and other
national government agencies, especially the Department
of Health, PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes

local Rural Health Unit
ito yung treatment, ito yung mga tinatawag natin
na mga members/stakeholders, first ang member ng mga
major stakeholders dito sa NCNDSS, ito yung tinatawag
natin na mga Health facilities (Hospitals, birthing
facilities, Rural Health Units, Health Centers, DILG, Local
Government Units, Academe) - health facilities has
something to do sa screening system, education,
obligation to inform yung mga parents, mag participate rin
sila sa recall, mag participate rin sila doon sa referral,
follow up.

a hospital with a licensed clinical
laboratory capable of RBC typing, crossmatching and
it doesn’t have any blood service facility but it will
merely received blood & blood component or blood
transfusion as needed.
