Lines that fade or disappear then reappear in a way that implies where the missing portion is

repeating strokes of an art tool producing clustered (usually parallel) lines to create values. in cross- hatching, similar lines pass over the hatched lines in a different direction, usually creating darker values

impasto
An Italian word for “mixture,” used to describe a painting technique wherein paint is thickly laid on a surface, so that brushstrokes or palette knife marks are visible
