Describe how MIDI works.

A

Rather than using ADCs which sample an analogue waveform at frequent intervals, MIDI uses event messages to represent different notes and their duration.

How do MIDI event messages work?

A

Clock signals set tempo, Digital signals specify pitch (frequency) and intensity, Control signals manage decorative features such as vibrato and reverb.
