what was the middle passage
the voyage from africa into the new world of america
what were the conditions of the middle passage
the ships took around 6-11 weeks to complete a voyage and they had to carry as much slaves as possible to make a good profit
what was the tight pack method
this method involved packing as many slaves into the hold as possible, it was expected that some slaves would die but enough would survive the voyage
what were the effects of being restricted and cramped
slaves werent allowed to use a toilet, sickness quickly spread, they were all chained together, if one died they would stay on the chain for a few hours
what did the crew do
mistreat the slaves, like raping the women
what was the percentage of slaves that died

it often spread to some of the crew and it killed many slaves
