What is a Missionary?
Someone whose job is to spread Christianity around the world.
Describe St. Patrick’s life
He was kidnapped and taken to Britain where he was enslaved and made a shepard. It was peaceful there so he prayed and he got a vision which told him how to get home. He became a missionary and went back to Britain where he used a clover to teach them about the Holy Trinity.
What was a Monk?
A religious man who lived apart from society in isolated communities.
Who was Benedict? what was the Benedictine rule?
An Italian monk who created the Benedictine rule.

Who were the Franks?
A group of random Germanic tribes that were brought together under one empire by Charlemagne.
What did Pope Leo III decide to do on Christmas day?
He crowned Charlemagne as the emperor of the Romans.
What 3 groups invaded Europe during the Middle Ages and which one was the strongest?
Muslims, Vikings, and Magyars.
The Vikings were the strongest and scariest because they were very good a t battling on water with their ships.
Knight
A warrior who fought on horseback.
Fief
A piece of land given to a knight by a noble as a result of military service. The noble then becomes a Lord of that land.
Vassal
A knight who promised to support a Lord in exchange for land.
Who was William the Conqueror?
He conquered England in the battle of Hastings and took the throne there. This is what gave him his name “William the Conqueror.”
What was the Domesday Book?
It was the survey that William the Conqueror made to see what taxes he could collect.
What was a serf.
They were a worker who was tied to the land on which they lived.

One of the most powerful leaders of France and England.
Guild
A group of workers with the same job.
