Historical events that shaped the music?
- Politics: the sense of hierarchy the people with the most power at this time where the church and there was this idea of a divine rate of king where people could claim that they heard directly from God and that will give them power
- Religious: at this time, the church had most of the power, and if they didn’t agree with something or if it was not validity to buy them, it did not happen and there was a lot of corruption within the church and through this idea.
- Healthcare: lack of healthcare equals lots of death the plague and 30 year life expectancy affected the music in a good way.
What was the music like from the Middle Ages?
- no access to music education
-Instruments were hard to find and not seen in the church
-the style is Gregory enchant named after the pope Gregory. He didn’t do anything specifically to music.
