Helical Spur
More expensive, Stronger, Less Noisy, unballanced, generate side loads
Hering Bone
Rare, Strong, Less Noisy, Tractor Trade, Ballanced
Bevel Pinions
Allow the speeding slowing of each axel to speed up or slow down independtly
Plain Bevel
Stright Teeth
Spiral Bevel
Most common, similar advantages as the hylical gear
Hypoid Bevel
allows engine and transmission to be lower than the axel
Cone Clutch
Two tapered matching, tighter the grip the further they are pushed together
Expanding shoe clutch
Tranmits power when its two ends are pushed out apart from eachother as far as possible
Over Center
This style of clutch hold itself in both engaged and disenagaged positions so the operator does not need to hold in on the clutch pedal for either prosition
Centricuigual Clutch
This clutch is designed to grab and transmit power when the engine speeds is increased and then disengaged when teh engine speed is decreased
Band Clutch
connecting the inner rotating member to an outer one by claming the outer one onto the inner one with the linkage.
Magnetic Clutch
activated by the operator from a switch sending current to a large coil of wire
Slip Clutch
This clutch will allow the drive side to continue to rotate after an excessive load is placed on the driven side
Over Running Clutch
Prevents the driven side from comming to a rapid stop when the input side is stoped.
Live PTO
The Clutch involves only one throw out bearing but has two seperate clutch discs
Independent PTO
Involves two though out bearings one for each set of clutch discs
Torque Converter input
Impeller
Turbine
drives the tranmission
Stator
Redirects oil flow back into the pump
Vortex Flow
Oil flow is turbulent and powerful, occurs during a torque converter stall
Rotary
Oil flow when the input and output speed match
Most stators
are allowed to free wheel during rotary flow
Lock-Up Converter
Mechanically connects input and output at cruise speeds
Torque Converter stall
When the engine is at WOT and the torque converter is stopped
Diff Lock
usually locks one axel shaft to the differential housing.
Hydraulic Diff Lock
discs are splined to a bevel gear to the axel drive. plates get tanged to differential housing
Auto Locker
over running camaction that. Allows the outer wheel to break free from the rest of the machine. Prevents slower wheel from breaking free, thus allowing positive traction.
Limited Slip
Basic differential housing except the bevel gears are allowed to flow on the shaft just a few millimeters.
Pourpose of Cone point adjustment
to corrrectly set the relation of ring gear and the pinion gear with a precise shim pack.
Pourpose of Final drives
To reduce the torque load on the tranmission. Also creates a higher torque to the ground and allows the tranmission to be smaller.
Axels
Most cases the axels are semi float axels meaning that the axel shaft is supported by bearings that are pressed on the axel housing
Full Floating axels
Bearing located between the axel housing and wheel hub. Axel shaft only has to be hold the torque.
Pinion Style Gear Reduction
gear is driven off the differential bevel side gear that is splined to the axel shaft.
Planetary drive
load is spread over 3x as many gears as pinion, ballanced no side loads, uses same lube as differential, usually attached to a rack and pinion style axel shaft.
Outboard Planetaries
Planetary is located inside the wheel hub, has a seperate oil supply from the diffrential oil.
