What does media:
Extend (the camera is an extension of the eye)
Make obsolete (new mediums make old technology obsolete)
Reverse into (when pushed to extreme, every medium will reverse into opposite intention)
Retrieve (retrieves some ancient experience or medium from the past)
Difference between ideographic and phonetic alphabet
Ideographic - pictorial characters that can represent entire ideas, phrases or words (pictures)
Phonetic - a seemingly meaningless arrangement of squiggles and dots used to create meaning (writing)
