High/ elite culture
- those elements to sophisticated for the mass media
- Ex: opera, museum
Folk culture
culture produced and practices that have developed over time within a particular community or identified group
- passed from one generation to another
Pop culture
folk: authentic culture becomes mainstream
left over from high culture
