Microsoft Azure Fundamentals - Describe Cloud Computing Flashcards
This module introduces you to cloud computing. It covers things such as cloud concepts, deployment models, and understanding shared responsibility in the cloud.
What is cloud computing?
Delivery of computing services over the internet.
What are the two basic services provided by all cloud providers?
- Compute power
- Storage
What is the shared responsibility model?
Responsibilities are shared between the datacenter (physical security/power, cooling, network connectivity) and the consumer (access security/data and info stored in cloud)
Which cloud service type places the MOST responsibility on the consumer?
IaaS
Shared responsibility model (3 points)
What will the consumer always be responsible for, regardless of cloud computing service?
- The information and data stored in the cloud
- Devices that are allowed to connect to your cloud (cell phones, computers, and so on)
- The accounts and identities of the people, services, and devices within your organization
Shared responsibility model (3 points)
What information is cloud provider always responsible for?
- The physical datacenter
- The physical network
- The physical hosts
Shared responsibility model
Which areas have responsibility that’s with either the consumer or the cloud provider dependent on the service model?
4 things
- Operating systems
- Network controls
- Applications
- Identity and infrastructure
List the three cloud models?
Bonus - list 4th increasingly likely cloud scenario
- Private cloud
- Public cloud
- Hybrid cloud
*Multi-cloud (multiple public cloud providers)
Natural evolution from a corporate datacenter.
What is a private cloud?
**Cloud that’s used by a single entity.
**
Private cloud provides greater control for the company and its IT department. However, it also comes with greater cost and fewer of the benefits of a public cloud deployment.
A private cloud may be hosted from your on site datacenter. It may also be hosted in a dedicated datacenter offsite, potentially even by a third party that has dedicated that datacenter to your company.
What is a public cloud?
A public cloud is built, controlled, and maintained by a third-party cloud provider.
With a public cloud, anyone that wants to purchase cloud services can access and use resources.
General public availability is difference with public & private clouds.
What is a hybrid cloud?
Computing environment that uses both public and private clouds in an inter-connected environment.
A hybrid cloud environment can be used to allow a private cloud to surge for increased, temporary demand by deploying public cloud resources. Hybrid cloud can be used to provide an extra layer of security.
What cloud model benefits from no capital expenditures to scale up?
Public cloud
Which cloud model offers organisation complete control over resources and security?
Private cloud
A private cloud may be hosted from your on site datacenter. It may also be hosted in a dedicated datacenter offsite, potentially even by a third party
The organisation is responsible for hardware maintenance and updates for which cloud model?
Private cloud
Which cloud model provides the most flexibility?
**Hybrid Cloud
**
A hybrid cloud environment can be used to allow a private cloud to surge for increased, temporary demand by deploying public cloud resources. Hybrid cloud can be used to provide an extra layer of security. For example, users can flexibly choose which services to keep in public cloud and which to deploy to their private cloud infrastructure.
