Microscopes Flashcards
What is the place you put the slide called?
The stage
What do you put one drop of ontop of the specimen to make the specimen more detailed
methylene blue
A white blood cell is 20.5 millimetres long.
Calculate the length of the magnified image when it is magnified by 400x
8200 millimetres
How do you prepare a slide
Get a glass slide and place a thin layer of your specimen onto it. Add one drop of methylene blue onto the specimen and place the covor slip ontop.
What is the equation for magnification
magnification = measured size ÷ actual size
What is needed to use a light microscope?
Microscope, Glass slide, covor slip, methylene blue, gloves (optional), tweasers (optional), paper towel (optional) and specimen
What is 1 millimetre in micrometres?
1000 micrometres
Two Advantages of using electron microscopes are
Higher Resolution
Higher Magnification
What are the two types of Microscope?
Electron and light
