What are the functions of Vitamin A
1) Required for a healthy immune system
2) Keeps the throat, digestive system and lungs moist
3) Its an antioxidant helps stop damaging substances from the air and water entering our bodies
Where do we find Vitamin A
Dairy products, fortified spreads, oily fish, yellow fruits, yellow, red and green vegetables
What happens if you don’t eat enough Vitamin A
Unable to see in dim light (night blindness) which can eventually lead to blindness, children will have poor or stunted growth, it is difficult for the body to fight off disease and infection
What happens if you eat too much Vitamin A
Too much is poisonous and can build up in the liver, pregnant women should avoid eating too much because it can cause birth defects in the baby
How many Vitamin B’s are there?
There are eight including: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12

Thiamin
Whats the function of Vitamin B1
Helps release energy from carbohydrates, helps your nerves to work properly, helps with growth in the body
Where you find Vitamin B1
Cereals, yeast, marmite, meat, eggs, dairy products, seeds, nuts and beans
What happens if you don’t eat eat enough Vitamin B1
The body will have slow growth and development, severe deficiency causes a disease called beri-beri which causes muscle wastage
What happens if you eat too much Vitamin B1
There is currently no evidence to suggest that it will cause any harm
