1) Induce phagocytosis by enterocytes and multiply in phagocytic vesicles. Induce apoptosis of macrophage.
2) Enable survival inside the phagocytic vacuole of macrophages. But do NOT cause apoptosis of macrophage

4) Induce phagocytosis of enterocytes at the basolateral surface
5) Transport bacterial protein into enterocyte –> forms a pedistal for itself –> microvilli disappear
