- We see that even though he hates his job, he feels like its the only option for stability and income

- Conveys how desperate he is in tough times like this

- After receiving sweets, Mickey seemed almost shocked
- He isn’t used to people giving him stuff, due to most things getting taken away from him we see this from the rent man
- So the action of Eddie giving him sweets, is not something Mickey is used to

- The role of Mickey receiving things from Eddie is seen throughout the play as they get older
- Sweets, ciggie and money to support his family after getting released from prison
