My name is Dr. Layton Man’s
Where are you from Dr. Man’s?
I am from Poseidon, New York and currently reside at 250 Herriman Way in Poseidon New York
Have you lived in Poseidon for a long time?
Yes, my roots run very deep in the community having graduate graduated from Athena, high school in Poseidon
Did you attend college after graduating from Athena?
Absolutely I earned my bachelor of science degree magna cum Lloyd from the State University of New York and Poseidon
What did you do after graduating college?
I began my career in education as a history, teacher at my alma mater, Athena high school
Did you pursue any additional education?
While still teaching at Athena, I took part-time classes at Cornell University earning my doctor and educational administration
What was the title of your dissertation?
I titled it overhauling public school funding in light of decreasing budgets and the clamor for high student achievement
Did they come a time when you transitioned from teaching to administration?
Yes, an opportunity opened up from the school district assistant superintendent for finance of personnel retired. I was offered that position and began serving as a district assistant superintendent in 2004 September.
Could you describe your responsibilities in that position?
As the assistant superintendent for finance and personnel, my primary charge was overseeing the district budget
How long do you stay in this position?
I was in the position of assistant superintendent for two years
Where did you go after?
I was then offered the position of a district superintendent in 2006
How long were you superintendent?
I was district superintendent for 18 years
What was your favorite part of the job during those 18 years?
My favorite part was the opportunity to interact with students and teachers I took pride and balancing my role as administrator was staying approachable greeting everyone with a smile
Did they come a tie when you explored other career opportunities
Yes, in 2015 I decided to give Paul to a try with the support of many devoted donors and volunteers. Also my popularity in the school district as an effective superintendent helped.
Did you win?
Yes, I was elected to the Kronos County legislature in 2006
Were you able to balance these new responsibilities as a county legislature with your role as a superintendent?
I was, this position was a part-time commitment which allowed me to continue serving a superintendent
When your first term was up, did you seek reelection?
Yes, I then one reelection over 70% of the vote
Did you ever consider seeking higher office?
Yes, several of my supporters recommended that to me
Did you do anything about that?
Yes, in 2022 our local state center announced that he wouldn’t seek reelection and so I hired a poll for him to see what my chances would be in winning as local state senator
What were the results of that poll
The pole showed that I was substantially ahead of other potential challengers and would win the Senate race
What did you do with that information?
I announced my Canada seat for the state Senate campaign
Did you continue working as superintendent throughout your campaign?
In order to focus on my campaign, I am for the school district November 2022 that I would be retired for my position as superintendent on July 31, 2023
What major tasks if any did you accomplish during this time.
My final task as superintendent was to finalize the school district budget for the academic year 2023 to 24
Are you familiar with Sandy towns?
Yes, Sandy town was a part of the computer science club who produced the computer graphics making fun of me
No, Dr. Man let’s circle back to your Senate campaign. Did your campaign continue all the way to the election?
No, two weeks before the primary, I suspended my campaign after my consult told me I had little to no chance to win the primary not to mention the general election
Why not?
With all the false information out in the public, it was too late to save my campaign from the backlash
Are you aware of the content of the recording?
Yes, I am aware
Could you describe the Rick rock video to the court?
It appeared to show me accepting a $50,000 bribe from the building contractor I supposedly tell the contractor that the money was just earned the contractor a contract to build a new elementary school. A voice says this is your former super intendant and state Senate candidate hard at work, lining their pockets
And could you do the same for the audio recording?
The audio recording included my voice, making disturbing and disparaging comments about students, parents, teachers, and principles, and others in the school district
Did you actually have a conversation like that which was in the video?
No, I did not
Were there ever plans to build another elementary school?
No, there’s nothing in the 2023 to 24 budget for construction and in fact because of the decreasing school age population, we have not built an elementary school in over 10 years
Did you ever make such comments about the parents?
Absolutely not
Did you take any action about these release recordings?
Yes, I did
And what action was that?
On April 10, 2024, I called the county sheriff to investigate the matter who called upon Dr. Quincy Roberts to lead the investigation
When did you learn the results of the investigation?
On April 30, Dr. Robert submitted a report to the sheriff’s office who is subsequently notified by attorney and campaign
How did this report impact your Senate campaign?
My campaign was already over with the false information out in the public for almost a month. People lost interest in helping my campaign. My campaign funding ceased paid staff for let go and volunteer stop showing up the campaign. Headquarters were even shut down in late afternoon the day the report was released, even though the report exonerated me.
Are you familiar with Fran Gates?
Yes, they were the director of technology for the district when I was the superintendent
Describe your relationship with them
When I was superintendent, they showed their incompetence by botching a new grading system rollout so I recommended that they be fired as a result gates would say or do anything to get back at me
