Neutral ground agreement
The U.S. and Spain did not agree on the border between Texas and Louisiana. so they had a neutral ground between the Sabine river and Arroyo Hondo. Neither country will control or patrol this area
Adams-Onis Treaty
In 1819, the U.S. and Spain signed the Adams-Onis Treaty, ending the Neutral Ground Agreement.
