What side effects are we concerned about with methotrexate?

A

Blood Disorders - sore throat, bruising, mouth ulcers

Liver Toxicity - nausea, vomitting, dark urine, jaundice, itching

Pulmonary Toxicity - SOB, Cough

GI Toxicity - Stomatitis (sore, inflamed mouth) , Diarrhoea

Renal function

Use effective contraception during and 6 months after.

Drug Interactions with Methotrexate

A

Nephrotoxics

Antifolates (trimethoprim, phenytoin)

Hepatotoxics (rifampicin, antifungals)

Omeprazole/Esomeprazole (increases toxicity)
