Methods Stats Flashcards
How did you find out the data is normally distributed?
Shapiro test
Sig greater than 0.05
Ind t test = mann whitney U
Non para anova = Friedman test
What is a two way between groups ANOVA?
Compare the effect of the two IV’s on the DV
It also studies the interrelationship between IV’s affecting influencing the DV
IV = group, limb side DV = hip rom
What is power?
The probability of detecting an effect, if there is a true effect to detect
Type 1 error
False positive (finding an effect, when there is not a true effect)
Type 2 error
False negative (Not finding an effect, when there is an effect)
Sample size calculation
A priori sample size calculation
G Force
Effect size, sig level, power, groups etc.
Why did you not do multiple t-tests?
As the number of t-tests increase, the probability of getting a type 1 error increases
Assumptions of a 2 way anova
Normall distributed
DV is continuous
2 categorical IV’s
What does higher DF mean?
More chance of having a higher power,
meaning more chance of rejecting the null hypothesis and finding a significant effect
