Methods Of Finding Truth. Flashcards
Conscience.
Your sense of right and wrong will influence what you believe about yourself and others.
This might be an βinner voiceβ that tells you whether your actions are right or wrong. Some people believe that inner voice might be God.
Reason.
Your ability to think logically. Many people think that God has given βmindsβ for humans to use.
Authority:
Listening to a person who you respect or following religious teachings is a method of finding the truth. Some religious believers listen to the authority of a religious leader like the Pope, whereas in science, someone who is a Professor or who has received an award has authority.
Feelings.
If you have strong feelings about a person, idea or situation, then these feelings might influence how you understand the truth. We use our emotions to help us judge, or make up our minds about, the world around us.
Peer group.
One might come to find truth because many people of their own age believe that it is true.
Culture.
The traditions, religions and other beliefs of the people around you will influence the way you think about the world. For example, a person living in the UK is likely to have different experiences and beliefs than someone in Africa.
