methods of display Flashcards
2 types of data categories and there 2 subsets
qualitative - ordered (S, M, L) and unordered (M or F)
quantitative - discrete and continuous
how can you present qualitative data and which is better
bar or pie chart
pie chart harder to interpret
quantitative graphical representations
histogram, dot plot, box plot( shows q1 q3 median and outliers), scatter plot(good for comparison)
dependent variable (response)
variable that is being tested and measured
independent variable (explanatory)
the variable the examiner changes
relationship between independent and dependent variables
how changing the independent variable or the condition of the independent variable influences the dependent variable
q1 and q3 and the median
q1 = (n+1)/4
q2 = 3(n+1)/4
median= (n+1)/2
lets say q1 gives you 2.5 that means its the 2.5th value if they were all in order
IQR
q3-q1
