Visibility <1000m
SA, DU, HZ, FU, VA, BR
-Visibility <5000m
-FU: Smoke
PO & FC
-PO: Dust/Sand whirls (dust devils)
-FC: Funnel Cloud (Tornado or watersprout)
BL, DR, MI
BL: Blowing, height 2m or more
DR: Drifting, height <2m
MI: Shallow, height <2m
VC
Vicinity: within 8-16km of ARP
Cloud Base Reference
-Aerodrome elevation
-For precision approach only: if threshold elevation 15m or more, than threshold
CAVOK
-Visibility 10km or more,
-No cloud with base below 5000ft or MSA
-No CB or TCU at any level
-No weather of significance to aviation
ASHTAM Validity and Amendment
-Max 24 hours
-If alert level changed, new one must be issued
Aerodrome Windshear Alert Threshold
Wind speed change >=15kt

-Green: Back to normal
-Yellow: Elevated unrest
-Orange: Increased chance of eruption or eruption in progress with little or no ash
-Red: Imminent eruption or in progress with significant ash
