Cons: Rusts
Pros: Magnetic - separates easily in recycling
Plentiful supplies- in earths crust
Cheap
What are the pros and cons of Mild Steel (Ferrous-Fe)
Cons: Has to be painted - or will rust
Needs prime#2, Top coat - colour#3, Lacquer#1
Pros: Durable- Easy to bend and shape
(car body’s are made from this- crushes like tin can)
What are the pros and cons of Cast Iron (Ferrous-Fe)
Cons: Brittle - Because 3.5% Carbon Added
Pros: hard/ridged

What are the pros and cons of Aluminium (non-ferrous- non-iron)

+no rust
+100% Recyclable
- £ expensive
Why would you use Aluminium for a coke can
- You don’t want rust in your drink
- Don’t have to paint the inside of the can
What are the pros of Non-Ferrous metals (non-iron)
+Doesn’t rust
+Don’t need painting
+As it is worked it hardens

What is an Alloy
Mixture of 2 or more metals, to get the good properties of each metal to form a better metal.
