What is galactosaemia?
A
Rare metabolic condition resulting in the inability to metabolise galactose. Results in neonatal jaundice.

Causes of hypoglycaemia in an infant
A
Hyperinsulinism (e.g. diabetic mother)
Low glycogen stores (e.g. IUGR, preterm)
Increased glucose requirements (infection/sepsis, foetal distress, hypothermia, hyperthyroidism)
