meta analysis Flashcards
How do you report results
SMD=….., Ci (…. to …..)
then report z and P score
how to report heterogeneity
i2 number= percentage-
x2 (df) chi2, p< value
heterogeneity number scales
low= 0-40
medium= 41-60
hihg=60-100
example if write up of result
A total of 2581 participants were analysed. Meta-analyses showed an overall improvement in work
effectiveness in those taking part in a psychological digital health intervention, relative to controls who
did not, SMD= 0.25 (95% CI = 0.09 to 0.41) z= 3.00, p= .003.
Heterogeneity for the overall effect was high (I
2 = 75%), χ2 (12) = 48.24, p<.001, suggesting that the
pooled effect size estimate would likely change with further evidence.
The findings of this meta-analysis suggest that psychological digital health interventions improve work
effectiveness. This is something that would be beneficial to disseminate to workplaces since it may be a
relatively low-cost activity that positively impacts on employee work effectiveness. However, given the
significant heterogeneity of the pooled studies, results should be interpreted with caution.
what do we say if heterogeneity is high
the pooled effect size estimate would likely change with further evidence
