Meristematic Cells Flashcards
What are meristematic cells?
Meristematic cells are cells that are not special but produce dermal ground or vascular tissue, which are special.
What are the 3 types of tissues that meristematic cell can produce?
They can produce dermal, ground, and vascular tissue.
What is dermal tissue?
Dermal tissue is tissue from the meristematic cell that is a barrier and.or protection from the outside, it also controls gas and water exchange
What is Ground tissue?
Ground tissue is tissue that comes from the meristematic cell, it acts as a photosynthesis cells and provides support for the plant.
What is Vascular tissue?
Vascular tissue is tissue that comes from the Meristematic cell, it transports sap through the plant and provides support for the plant.
Example of dermal tissue
Epidermal cell
Example of Ground tissue
Photosynthesis cell, cell that has a thick hard cell wall for support
Example of Vascular cell
Xylem cell and Phloem Cells
What is the differences between the functions and descriptions of Xylem and Phoelem cells?
Xylem cells are dead and transport water and minerals from the roots up. Phloem cells are alive and transport sugars from leaves to the whole cell.
What are the 4 Organs of a plant?
- Roots
- Stem
- Leaves
- Flowers
