Q

Pelvis

A

Bony ring through which the fetus passes during labor and delivery; consist of four united bones ( two hip or innominate bone, the sacrum, and the coccyx) between the trunk and the thighs

16
Q

Gynecoid

A

Classic female pelvis inlet, well rounded (oval); ideal for delivery

17
Q

Android

A

Resembling a male pelvis, narrow and heart shaped; usually requires cesarean section or difficult forceps delivery

18
Q

Platypelloid

A

Flat, broad pelvis; usually not adequate for vaginal delivery

19
Q

Anthropoid

A

Similar to pelvis of anthropoid ape; long, deep, and narrow; usually adequate for vaginal delivery

20
Q

Breasts

A

Pair of accessory glands of female reproduction responsible for lactation. Externally covered by skin with dark colored nipple and areola containing Montgomery’s glands that lubricate the nipples. Internally contain the alveoli that produce the colostrum ( premilk) and breast milk late in pregnancy and after delivery, as well as lactiferous or mammary ducts to eject the milk
