Acquired brain injury (ABI)
Damage to brain tissue caused by disease, medical condition, accident, or violence
Affect
Persons feelings emotions, and moods and the way the persons demonstrates them
Affective Disorders
Mental health disorders involving feelings, emotions, and moods ( mood disorder )
Amenorrhea
Absence of at least 3 consecutive menstrual periods
Anxiety disorder
Mental health disorder, main symptom is anxiety
Attention - deficit and disruptive behaviour disorder
Behavioural disorders, clients have chronic difficulties in maintaining focusing and completing their work, repeatedly engaging in disruptive behaviours
Attention- deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHA)
Causes inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity impulse behaviour
Binge
When an individual eats a larger amount of food; not response to hunger but to depression, stress
Binge eating
Persons has periods of uncontrolled, impulsive, continuous eating
Bipolar affective disorder
Illness that has periods of serious depression followed by episodes of mania with irritable moods and behaviour
Delusion
Fixed, false, belief that is not based on reality
Delusions of grandeur
False and exaggerated beliefs about ones importance talent and wealth
Delusion of persecution
False beliefs that one is being mistreated, a used, or harassed
Eating disorders
Altered body image perception that leads to disturbance in eating behaviours and abnormal concern with body weight and shape
Hallucination
Seeing, smelling, hearing, tasting, or feeling something that is not real
