OD Paracetamol symptoms
N&V, hepatic necrosis. Paracetamol os a pro toxin - its metabolites are toxic.
Management of paracetamol OD
*Determine time of ingestion. *Take blood at 4 hours for level of toxin. *Determine antidote dose by comparing level to nomogram. *Antidote - N-Acetylsysteine (parvolex).
OD Opioids symptoms
A - coma? B - Reduced Resp. CO2 retention. C - Hypotension. D - low GCS, myosis.
Management of OD opioid
Manage ABCDE, then antidote - NALOXONE
OD of tricyclic symptoms
metabolic acidosis, marked antimuscarinic activity, cardiotoxic - arrhythmias. Mad as a hatter. Blind as a bat. Dry as a bone. Red as a beet. Hot as a hare.
Management of OD tricyclic
ABCDE, bicarbonate, DIAZEPAM.
OD hypnotics symptoms (eg benzodiazepine)
GABA receptor agonist. Confusion, delirium, hypotension, reduced RR, ataxic, hypothermia.
OD of a sympathomimetic symptoms (mimics adrenalin)
agitation, insomnia, hallucinations, myadriasis, tachycardia, hypertension, hyperthermia.
Antidote for sympathomimetic OD
DIAZEPAM
OD of anticholinergic symptoms e.g. TCA, antipsychotic.
Mad as a hatter. Blind as a bat. Dry as a bone. Red as a beet. Hot as a hare.
Antidote for antichloinergic
Bicarbonate, Diazepam.
