Mental Disorder
An abnormal state of mind characterised by:
delusions,
or by disorders of:
mood,
perception,
volition,
Cognition,
of such a degree that it:
poses a serious danger to the health or safety of that person or others,
Or
Seriously diminishes the capacity of the person to take care of themself

Special Patient
Patients that are
detained by way of court order.
They are
criminally insane or unfit to plead.
They have
offended and been charged

Section 109
Of the Mental Health Act 1992
Mentally Disordered People in Public Places.
- Any members of police may apprehend.
- any person wandering at large in a public place
AND
- behaving so that you have a reasonable belief that they may be mentally disordered.
AND
you believe it is in the interest of the person or public.
After apprehension you must take the person to a hospital, mental health or appropriate place.
6hr time limit on detention
