Define Mental disorder?
An abnormal state of mind to such a degree that a person
•poses a serious danger to health or safety of that person or others
•seriously diminishes the capacity of that person to take care of themselves
Restricted patient definition?
Patients who are subject to a compulsory treatment order but are considered a present danger to the public.
Special patient defined?
Detained by way of Court Order found to be criminally insane or unfit to plead. Includes people on remand for psychiatric report.
Duly Authorized Officers defined?
Qualified nurses who have specialized in the area of mental health.
Can we use the term 1M in the presence of a mental health subject?
No, could result in a hostile response.
When can restricted and special patients be returned to hospital?
Anytime
When can Compulsory treatment patients be returned?
Within 3 months

Section 109
What Section gives police power to assist a DAO in a private address?

What is the time limit to detain for medical assessment?
6 hours

Authority of doctor.

Use of sedatives from doctor issuing certificate
