Presentation of generalised anxiety disorder

A

Chronic excessive worry unrelated to circumstances and disproportionate to risk

  • Restlessness
  • Nervousness

Contraindications of SSRI

A

Not given with drugs that prolong QT interval
Bipolar - increases mania
CKD stage 4 - 5
Caution in epilepsy

Sertraline is fine during pregnancy and breastfeeding

A

excess of five symptoms and they only result in minor functional impairment

A

diagnosed if the person has most symptoms and they markedly interfere with functioning – they can occur with or without psychotic symptoms

  • Young and middle-aged men
  • People in contact with the criminal justice system.
  • Specific occupational groups, for example, doctors, nurses, veterinary workers, farmers, agricultural workers

Crisis resolution and home treatment (CRHT)

A

Psychiatrist, mental health nurses, social workers and support workers and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Assesses the person’s needs, manages the risks of being at home, assists with self-help strategies, offers psychological and practical help, and administers medication

A

Individual guided self-help - CBT
Computerized cognitive behavioural therapy (CCBT)
- Structured group-based physical activity programme - 3x sessions per week - 14 weeks
