What days is the menstrual flow phase over?
Days 1-5
What happens in the follicle/proliferative phase? (4)
- FSH from the pituitary gland stimulates growth of ovarian follicles
- growing follicle releases oestrogen
- oestrogen stimulates endometrium to rebuild
- ovulation
What days are the follicle/proliferative phase over?
Days 6-14
What phase is days 15-28?
Luteal/secretory phase
What happens during the luteal phase?
- corpus luteum produces progesterone > causes more build up and maintains endometrium
What happens if fertilisation does not occur?
Corpus luteum breaks down»_space; progesterone secretion stops»_space; endometrium breaks down
What day does ovulation occur?
Day 14
When in the cycle does temperature spike?
At ovulation
What is the left over follicle called after the egg is released?
Corpus luteum
In what order to the 2 key hormones appear in?
