Q

What is the function of progesterone?

A

Progesterone is produced in the ovaries and acts with oestrogen to bring about the menstrual cycle via maintaining uterus lining growth
(If progesterone levels drop= lining breaks down)

Q

In terms of a graph when do each hormone peak and decrease?

A

O= increases stage 2 decreases stage 4
P=increases stage 4 drops restarts cycle
LH= peaks day 14 release egg stage 3
FSH peaks on stage 3 but lower than LH

Q

What is the first stage of the menstrual cycle?

A

Q

Once the game ovaries have been triggered to start making oestrogen, what is the next stage in the menstrual cycle?

Q

What happens once oestrogen has thickened the uterus lining?

Q

What happens once the mature egg has been released?

A

Progesterone is released from ovaries, stopping the pituitary gland from releasing more LH or FSH which prevents other eggs maturing and maintains a thick uterus lining incase a fertilised egg plants
