General intent crime
Requires only proof that a D intended that particular criminal act, not the result
Ex. Rape, involuntary man. Depraved heart, felony murder
Specific intent
Require D intended both
- The criminal conduct
- The result
Ex. Assault with intent to kill must prove D intended actions to kill
Specific intent crimes
Murder, voluntary manslaughter, conspiracy, assault, burglary
Purposely MPC
Conscious objective to engage in conduct or cause the result
Knowingly MPC
Awareness that his conduct is of that nature or that attendant circumstance exists
Recklessly MPC
Conscious disregards (subjective) a substantial or unjustifiable risj(objective) . Disregard is a gross deviation.
Negligently MpC
Fails to be aware of a substantial and unjustifiable risk which ordinary person would have saw. Must be a very unreasonable risk.
