Q

Predict the likely consequences of haemorrhage into the subarachnoid space as a consequence of tearing of blood vessels.

A

It is a big space so can take a lot of blood. It takes a few days (usually) for sufficient blood to accumulate to raise intracranial pressure but when it does > intractable headache, nausea and vomiting, mental confusion and finally coma.
