6
Q

where is information processed to do with memory

A

the brain - is actively altering and organising information rather than just recording it

Q

what are the three stages of remembering information - known as multi store memory model

A

sensory memory -> (attention) -> short term memory -> (encoding) <- (retrieval) -> long term memory
/
forgetting

Q

what is chunking and why does it help

A

organising info
can help a performer deal with larger amounts of info
-> items of info need to be rehearsed before they can be stored in the LT memory

Q

what is retrieval

A

recovering info that has been stored. Success of retrieval depends on how well known the info is or how much of its there is.

Q

what is input in terms of learning physical activity skills

A

input is the detection of cues or data from the environment e.g opponent in netball
input is detected by sensory organs or receptors (the senses) e.g eyes (vision), ears (auditory) and proprioceptors ( touch or kinaesthetisis)
this information moves to the sensory memory (sensory receptors)
