Below 25,000’ 270KIAS
OCEANIC DIVERSION - Engines running
- Initiate drills and time critical checklists
- Declare emergency and request clearance
IF ATC CLEARANCE NOT OBTAINED:
Right turn 30 degrees 5NM off track
RIGHT OR LEFT IN OCA
RIGHT ONLY in China and Russia (Russia 30km or 16.2NM)
When established in offset, altitude level +/-500ft.
OCEANIC DIVERSION CHECKLIST
OCEANIC DIVERSION - Engine Out
- Initiate drills and time critical checklists
- Declare emergency and request clearance
IF ATC CLEARANCE NOT OBTAINED:
Right turn 30 degrees 5NM off track
RIGHT OR LEFT IN OCA
RIGHT ONLY in China and Russia (Russia 30km or 16.2NM)
Minimize decent until established in offset.
When established in offset, descend to below FL290 and maintain +/-500ft.
OCEANIC DIVERSION CHECKLIST
ENGINE INOP. CRUISE DRIFTDOWN
(EASTER)
ENGINE- Engine out page observe altitude and speed and execute ENG OUT.
ALTITUDE - new altitude from FMC ENG OUT page set in MCP - ENSURE VNAV.
SPEED - VNAV SPEED. Observe aircraft is going to descend on ENG OUT VNAV profile.
TALK - Declare Mayday to ATC, 121.5, XPDR 7700, external lights ON
EXECUTE TURN - If required for Oceanic Diversion or Terrain Escape charts require.
RECALL items - TIME CRITICAL DRILLS AND CHECKLISTS (ie. like the Oceanic Diversion Checklist)
TCAS TA and RA
TCAS RA on an approach
TA - look for traffic and reduce map range
Maneuver if required
AP - OFF
AT - OFF
TCAS RA - FOLLOW
ATC - Advise in a TCAS RA
————
AP - OFF
AT - OFF
THRUST - MAX
FLAPS - “FLAPS 20”
TCAS RA - FOLLOW
AFTER positive rate - “GEAR UP”
ATC - ADVISE
Clean up with the Go Around Drill
SMOKE, FIRE, or FUMES
- Oxygen Mask(which is also smoke goggles) _______ Don, 100%
- Crew and Cabin Crew communications_______ Establish
UPSET RECOVERY
nose high
- Recognize and confirm the developing situation
AP - disengage
AT - disengage
RECOVER:
Nose down
Reduce thrust if required
Roll if required to obtain nose down
Complete recovery:
When approaching horizon Roll wings level
Check airspeed and thrust
Establish pitch attitude
UPSET RECOVERY
nose low
Recognize and confirm the developing situation.
AP - Off
AT - Off
Recover:
Recover from stall if needed
Roll wings level in shortest direction. (Unload and roll)
Complete Recovery:
Apply nose up elevator
Apply nose up trim, if needed
Adjust thrust and drag, if needed
WINDSHEAR RECOVERY
MANUAL FLIGHT
Call “WINDSHEAR, TOGA”
AP - OFF
TOGA - PUSH
THRUST - MAX
AT - OFF
Wings level, pitch 15 degrees
Speedbrakes - retract
Flight director TOGA guidance - follow if available.
AUTOMATIC FLIGHT
Call “WINDSHEAR TOGA”
TOGA - PUSH
TOGA on FMA - Verify
GA THRUST - Verify
Speed brakes - RETRACT
monitor performance.
MANUAL OR AUTO FLIGHT
- Level aircraft as was configured until clear of WINDSHEAR
- Maintain wings level to maximize climb gradient unless turn required for obstacle
- Monitor vertical speed and altitude
- Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until WINDSHEAR is no longer a factor.
GPWS WARNING
Call “FIREWALL”
AP - OFF
AT - OFF
Thrust - MAX
WINGS LEVEL, initial PITCH 20 degrees
Speedbrakes - Retract
** if Terrain remains a threat, continue rotation to PLI’s or even stick shaker until buffet.
*** DO NOT change aircraft config
Monitor radio ALT
When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch and accelerate.
Crew incapacitated
PA - “In-charge flight attendant report to the flight deck”
STABILIZER
Both STABILIZER CUTOUT switches:
CUTOUT
** DO NOT EXCEED CURRENT AIRSPEED
SMOKE or FIRE from Lithium Battery
If necessary transfer aircraft control
PA - “Backup to the flight deck, backup to the flight deck”
*** SMOKE, FIRE, FUMES likely imminent. Complete drill.
