Memory and Learning Flashcards
What does a lesion to the MD nucleus of the thalamus cause?
Anterograde amnesia similar to lesion to the mammillary body in Korsakoff’s syndrome (which can cause the MD thalamus lesion from thiamine deficiency)
- MD projection to frontal cortex important for working memory/planning/problem solving
What is transient global amnesia?
Sudden onset of anterograde amnesia for short period of time with retrograde amnesia since the traumatic event that caused the disorder (cerebral ischemia, concussion, physical stress, drugs)
What is an engram?
Physical representation of memory; aka memory trace
Hippocampus is important in the transfer of…
Immediate (seconds) and short-term (minutes) memory to long-term memory
Aaaaaand it seems like the rest of these blue boxes were already covered in the limbic section.
Sorry for the little baby deck :/
Marr-Albus theory of motor learning predicts plasticity (depression) at the parallel fiber synapse if…
if it is active at the same time as the climbing fiber input to the postsynaptic Purkinje cell
