Memory and data remanence Flashcards
1
Q
volatile memory
A
it loses the memory content after a power loss (or within a few minutes) RAM (Random Access memory) SRAM (static RAM) Fast and expensive DRAM (Dynamic RAM) slower and cheaper SDRAM (synchronous DRAM)
2
Q
non-volatile memory
A
it keeps whatever it has stored, even if we turn the power off.
ROM (read-only memory)
PROM (programmable read only memory) –be written once. most of the time in factory
EPROM (erasable programmable read only memory). you would shine a UV light through the windows and that would erase the memory.
EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read only memory)
