Q
What is ROM?
A
ROM stores instructions the computer uses when it ‘boots up’ - the BIOS. ROM is ‘read only’ so it can be read but not changed by the user. The data is not erased when the computer is switched off - the data is stored permanently (non volatile memory).

Q
What is RAM?
A
RAM is temporary memory and volatile memory. It stores the data you’re working on, the modules that are needed to make your applications work and is also needed so that you can have multiple windows open. When the system starts to slow down, your RAM is full up.
