Membrane Transport Proteins Flashcards
1
Q
What is the difference between primary and secondary active transport?
A
Primary utilises ATP energy
Secondary utilises an ionic gradient for energy
2
Q
What do the drugs oubain/digitoxin/digoxin do?
A
Target the Na/K ATPase channels to increase intracellular sodium channels
This as an effect inhibits the sodium calcium exchanged therefore more Ca remains in the muscle to increase contractility (inotropy)
