Meiosis, sexual reproduction, haploidy/diploidy, somatic vs germ cells, synapsis, aneuploidy Flashcards
1
Q
T/F-Sexual Reproduction involves only diploid cells.
A
F- Diploid and Haploid cells involve sexual reproduction. Diploid cells divide by meiosis to form haploid cells, and the haploid cells from two individuals fuse in pairs at fertilization to form new diploid cells which undergo mitosis.
1
Q
Meiosis
A
- Non-identical daughter cells produced with half the genetic material found in parent cells (haploidy).
- Involved only in production of gametes (eggs/sperm)
- Basis of sexual reproduction and genetic inheritance
