Meiosis Process Flashcards
Interphase
The process when cell is growing, replicating DNA and and carrying out cell functions. It’s also the first step of mitosis
Prophase I
The chromosomes are thicken and condense in this stage. They are going to line up with their homologous pair
Metaphase I
The chromosomes line up at the middle of the cell in pairs
Anaphase I
The chromosomes are pulled away by the spindle fibre
Telophase I
Two new nuclei are formed and one cell becomes two cells.
Cytokinesis
Splitting the cytoplasm
Prophase II
Same as Prophase II except that they don’t have homologous pairs and don’t have the process of crossing over
Metaphases II
The chromosomes line up at the middle but not in pairs
Anaphase II
Chromatids are been pulled away by the spindle fibre
Telophase II
Two more cells are formed, and in total one cell has become four cells.
Cytokinesis
Splitting the cytoplasm again
