What are haploid cells?

A

These are cells that have one set of chromosomes, n, and is a combination of chromosomes from mom and dad. For example, gametes (egg and sperm cells).

What are diploid cells?

A

These are cells that have two sets of chromosomes, 2n, and a set from mom and a set from dad. For example, blood cells, skin cells and muscle cells.

A

  1. Autosomes.
    - Carry traits that make you who you are.
    - Ex. Chromosomes 1-44
  2. Sex Chromosomes.
    - Carry traits that make you who you are AND determine your gender.
    - Ex. Chromosomes 45-46 (X or Y)
