What is a Meeting?
A formal or informal face-to-face channel of communication among people on a specific topic or issue.
What is the importance of meetings?
Enables members to assemble at a specific time and place to discuss affairs of the org.
What are the purposes of meetings?
Discuss matters, make recommendations. exchange info, plan and reach agreements on actions, instruct members, give annual reports, have elections, appraisals and fulfil legal stipluations.
What are the two main types of Meetings?
Formal and Infromal.
What is Formal Meeting?
Meetings that are convened according to regulations.
What are the types of Formal Meetings?
Ordinary General Meetings, Extra Ordinary General Meetings, Committee Meetings, Board Meetings, Statutory Meetings, Meetings of Creditors and Annual general Meetings.
What is Ordinary General Meeting?
A meeting that is held at regular intervals according to regulations of the org.
What is Extra Ordinary Meeting?
A meeting held when the need arises.
What is a Statutory Meeting?
The first ever meeting held in accordance to the law, no sooner than a month or later than three months.
What is a Committee Meeting?
A meeting held periodically by committee members.
What is a Board Meeting?
A meeting held by the Board of Directors when the need arises.
What is Meetings Of Creditors?
A meeting held when debtors are bankrupt.
What is an Annual General Meeting?
A yearly meeting of the members or shareholders of an org.
What is Informal Meeting?
A meeting that is convened at short notice orally or by informal written notes.
What are the types of Informal meetings?
Departmental, staff, emergency, union, managerial, working party teleconferencing, videoconferencing and committee meetings.
What is Departmental Meetings?
Regular gatherings of a specific department or team within an organization.
What is Union Meetings?
A meeting held between HR’s and union members.
What is Working Party Meeting?
A meeting held when the need arises so that the members of the working party may investigate a matter and discuss new strategies for the future.
What is Committee Meeting?
A number of persons selected to take action on a particular matter.
What are the functions of the Committee?
Perform specific tasks, investigate and make recommendations, devise ways of satisfying members and manage or assist in managing the org.
What are the types of Committee’s?
Ad-hoc, Executive, Advisory, Sub-Committee, Standing and Joint Consultative Committees.
What is Ad-hoc Committee?
Appointed to carry out specific tasks for a limited time.
What is Executive Committee?
Elected to represent the org and make decisions on its behalf.
What is Advisory Committee?
Gives advise on different matters.
