Training Requirements (Front 7)
- Attend All scheduled JJ events.
- Successfully complete 6 JJ meetings.
- Successfully complete the National Candidate Test.
- Properly report in every business day.
- Attend at least two AFA meetings before JJ Hike.
- Organize and execute a fundraiser(optional).
- Organize and execute a community service project.

- Earn 100% of AAS Active’s signatures.
- Meet AFROTC weight and fitness standards prior to JJ Week.
- Successfully complete the JJ Hike.
- Erect a JJ Totem Pole prior to JJ Week and ensure its security.
- Satisfy all CTO Requirements.

What is Arnold Air Society??
Arnold Air Society is a professional, honorary service organization advocating the support of aerospace power.
Where did Arnold Air Society begin?
AAS had its beginnings at Field Training in 1947. A group of AFROTC cadets from Cincinnati, Ohio thanks to the aide of Captain Nolkamper chose unanimously to honor General Henry “Hap” Arnold and was named Arnold Society of Air Cadets.
When did the United States Air Force officially recognized the Society?
6 April 1948. Air Defense Command aided the Society to become nationalized and deployed their constitution to all universities and colleges throughout the nation. Within a Year, 20 squadrons were formed.
What is a National Conclave?
The conclave, or NATCON , serves as a central mans of establishing policies for the society.
What happened at the First NATCON?
University of Cincinnati, Mrs. H. H. Arnold was named the Honorary Sponsor. ; Same year the society officially became Arnold Air Society.
What happened at the Second NATCON?
Established the affiliation of AAS with the Air Force Association (AFA).
What is AFA?
Air Force Association is a national, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to building public support for the intelligent application of Air Power as an integral component of our nation’s defense Strategy.
What happened during the Third NATCON?
Initiated the creation of a National Publication Headquarters and the Arnold Memorial Scholarship.
What happened at the Fourth and Fifth NATCON?
Members proposed a reconstruction of the Society: Formation of an Executive Board consisting of National Commander of AAS and All Area Commanders.
What happened at succeeding Conclaves? IMPORTANT
Created more awards and policies, such as the formation of Angel Flight and Arnold Air Society - Link Foundation Fellowship for graduate work.
Where was Henry H. Arnold born and when?
Born in Gladwyn, Pennsylvania on 25 June 1886.
Important facts about Hap Arnold’s early career?
Attended US Military Academy and graduated in 1907; Began career as Lieutenant on 14 June 1907; Earned his wings from personal instruction from Wright Brothers.
During World War I he directed Army aviation training.
On 9 October 1912 Won first Mackey Trophy for flight demonstrations.
Hap Arnold’s Ranking
Progressed rapidly = 11 Feb 1935 earned Brigadier General and made permanent on 2 Dec 1940. In 1941 He became Major General and Chief of Staff of the Army Air Force. By March 1942 he became General of the Army Air Force.
