Medulla Flashcards
GSA (vagus)
General sensory information from the outer ear. synapses at the spinal trigeminal nucleus
GVA (vagus)
from thoracic and abdominal viscera; mucous membranes of larynx; laryngeal pharynx. synapses at solitary nucleus
SVA (vagus)
from taste buds of epiglottis. synapses at solitary nucleus
GVE (vagus)
parasympathetic to thoracic and abdominal viscera. travels to the dorsal mortor nucleus X
parasympathetic to heart travels to nucleus ambiguus
SVE (vagus)
branchial motor to the muscles of the larynx and pharynx synapses at nucleus ambiguus
gag reflex
afferent: glossopharyngeal by the solitary nucleus
efferent: vagus by the nucleus ambiguus
GSA (IX)
from skin of outer ear. synapses at the spinal trigeminal nucleus
GVA (IX)
from mucosa of pharynx, medial surface of the ear drum, carotid body and sinus. synapses at the solitary nucleus
from pharynx and posterior tongue. synapses at the spinal trigeminal nucleus
SVA (IX)
from taste buds on posterior third of tongue. synapses at the solitary nucleus
GVE (IX)
from inferior salivatory nucleus: parasympathetics to the otic ganglion and parotid gland via the lesser petrosal nerve
SVE (IX)
from nucleus ambiguus: branchial motor to stylopharyngeus
internal arcuate fibers
