Ibuprofen
(Prescription) RX: Ibuprofen 800 mg tablet Disp: 12 tablets Sig: Take PO q8h as needed for pain Refills: 0 Do not exceed 2400 mg in 24 hours
OTC:
200 mg tablets
Take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours PRN for pain
class C pregnant, Class A breastfeeding
pregnant patients cannot take ibuprofen
use caution in patients with asthma and taking albuterol
Acetaminophen
OTC: 500 mg tablets, Take 1 tablet PO Every 4-6 hours PRN for pain Class B pregnancy, A breastfeeding Safe for pregnant patients could alternate with ibuprofen (alternate each every 4-6 hours, not to exceed max dose of either) max dose 3 gm/24 hours do not use in liver patients max effective dose, 650 mg
Norco
Hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5/325
RX: Hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5mg/325 mg tablets Disp: 12 tablets Sig: Take PO q6h PRN for pain for 3 days Refills: 0 max dose: no more than 6 tablets/24 hours (30 mg) class C pregnancy and breastfeeding caution in liver and kidney patients do not give to children

Disp: 12 tablets (for three dental visits)
Sig: Take 4 tablets PO 1 hour before dental visit

prophylaxis IV
RX: Ampicillin 2 g or Cefazolin 1 gm or clindamycin 600 mg
Sig: take 2 gm or 1 gm or 600 mg IM or IV 1 hour prior to dental procedure
Prophylaxis allergic to amoxicillin or Clindamycin
RX: Azithromycin 500mg tablets
disp: 3 tablets (3 dental visits)
sig: take 1 tablet PO prior to dental visit

avoid in patients with cardiac problems and arrhythmia may lead to long QT syndrome

RX: acetaminophen suspension 160mg/5ml Disp: 160 ml Sig: 10 -15 mg/kg/dose refills:1 * do not exceed 5 doses per day
Example: 5 ml = 1 tsp = 160 mg/ 1 tsp child = 15 kg = 150 - 225 mg/dose Rx: acetaminophen suspension 160mg/5ml disp: 160 ml sig: take 1tsp (5ml) q4-6h prn for pain refills:1 * do not exceed 5 doses per day max dose no more than 75mg/kg/day
Children’s Motrin
RX: ibuprofen 100 suspension 100 mg/5 ml (1tsp)
Disp: 120 ml
Sig: 4-10 mg/kg/dose q4-6h prn for pain
refills: 1
Example: 5ml = 1 tsp= 100mg/ 1tsp child= 15 kg = 60 mg - 150 mg/ dose Rx: ibuprofen suspension 100 mg/5ml Disp: 120 ml Sig: take 1 tsp q4-6h prn for pain. max dose not written- probably wouldn't exceed 5 times per day max dose 40mg/kg/day - or 1200 per day

Rx: Amoxicillin 125 mg/5ml, 250 mg/5 ml
Disp: 150 ml
sig: 25-50 mg/kg/day, 50 mg/kg/day for prophylaxis taken 1 hour prior to dental procedure, 8-33 mg/kg/dose, 15 mg/kg - quick guide
refills: 0
Examples: child 12 kg - 3 years olds - dental abscess
Rx: Amoxicillin suspension 125 mg/5ml (1 tsp)
Disp: 150 ml
Sig: take 1 tsp q8h TID x 10 days
Examples: Child 20 kg
Rx: amoxicillin 250mg/5ml suspension
Disp: 150 ml
Sig: take 1 tsp TID q8h x 10 days
Clindamycin pediatric infection
Rx: Clindamycin 75 mg/5 ml 8-25 mg/kg/day - about 5 mg/kg 3 x per day,
Disp: 200 ml
Sig: 8-25 mg/kg/day, 20 mg/kg/day 1 hour prior to dentla procedure for prophylaxis
3-8 mg/kg/dose
Example: 12 kg child Rx: Clindamycin 75 mg/5ml Disp: 200 ml Sig: taken 1 tsp q8h (TID) for 10 days. higher risk of pseudomembranous colitis
child prophylaxis IV
IV ampicillin or cefazolin 50 mg/kg 1 hour prior to dental procedure
IV clindamycin 20mg/kg 1 hour prior to dental procedure
